The problem is in the graphics and its not the computer or windows. I don't know why it locks up but in the known issues for the latest builds (personally I'm on 10041) Microsoft says their are some freezing issues. In enterprise, Win 8 will NOT win.

OSx reigns supreme right now with HiDPI displays, it's 'pixel doubling' system for sharp, natural and true 1920x1200 display on a 15" monitor is exemplary. Put in trash can, flush, repeat. I have updated my graphics drivers, but that didn't help either. Just throw it away. For me it would make it 1-2 hours at a time and then just lock up.
We're seeing the same with iOS 7. Ergonomically this is a horrible JOKE. & as others have mentioned, if you don't have the 'latest gen' lap or desktop, there isn't an option 'to touch' control the display. Aqib Says: August 13th, 2013 at 3:57 am Ok, windows 8 is awesome for me. Very frustrating!
It locks up VERY hard, to the point the keyboard and mouse lock, and oddly enough the hard-drive light indicates some periodic activity, about 1 flash every second or so.
